Fish Tank

An original game concept design.

I have always been interested in the challenges faced by women in society and the style of Chinese horror. Therefore, I hope this game, as the ninth art form, can offer people a new way of thinking and feeling. I want to take this opportunity to attempt something I have always wanted to do. Chinese-style horror has recently seen many excellent works in China, gradually gaining audiences' recognition and appreciation. "Fish Tank" will be a somewhat stream-of-consciousness game, set around the year 2008, which was my childhood.

When designing this character, I incorporated many traditional Chinese objects: a longevity lock (an ornament given to children in ancient times as they were susceptible to early death, symbolizing wishes for longevity), prayer beads, a Bagua compass, and talismans. Prayer beads and Bagua are items from two different religions, which is quite unusual. A bird cage, a palm-leaf fan, and other items represent leisure and relaxation in Chinese culture, which tells the characteristics of this character. Inside the bird cage is a cell phone, along with their TV head, which indicates the abnormality of this world.

Process

I'm used to painting in mid-tone, incorporating all the necessary elements into the composition.

Then I adjust them in Photoshop to achieve the color I want. Adding the mood . This method is more controllable and allows for easier modifications.

Finally, making subtle adjustments, such as blurring the distant details in this painting, to achieve a focal point in the center of the composition.

"The world is a beautiful fish tank, with beautiful fish swimming crowded inside. People praise how well-decorated the fish tank is and how fascinating the fish inside are. However, the fish, surrounded by unobstructed glass on all sides, cannot escape, yet they can see the outside world. They yearn to reach that world outside. But as fish, how would they survive once they leave this fish tank?”
